Two family fun events are schedule in two parks in San Pedro for this Saturday April 11th.
A Family kite-flying Festival will be held at the 22nd Street Park, at 22nd Street and Miner Streets in San Pedro from 10 am to 2 pm Saturday. The park is located just north of the Cabrillo Marina.
From 11 am to 4 pm there will also be a centennial re-enactment ( at 2:20 pm) of the 1910 flight of French aviation pioneer Louis Paulhan off the southern coastline near the historic Point Fermin Lighthouse. The historical flight actually occurred in 1910 at Rancho Dominquez where a larger centennial ccelebration is planned on June 12th., but he did fly over the Pacific waters and the Point Fermin Lighthouse.
Additional activites planned for the centinnial c;elebration include tours of the Point Fermin Lighthouse, costumed re-enactors, an exhibit about the 1910 Los Anbgeles International Aviation Meet that brought Paulhan to the area, the San Pedro High School marching band,m aviation games, and a parade of World War I military vehicles and Model T Club cars.
