HEY......HEY YOU.......YEAH YOU.......WITH THE LICENSE...COME OVER HERE

Got me again.........I got roped into another Real Estate seminar....... some of these you have to attend while others are voluntary. Our local Board of Realtors is very good at offering knowledge classes. I only live 5 minutes away, so guess who goes all the time?

This one turned out to be quite good actually. The theme was Social Networking. Now... since I have been blogging on ActiveRain....I know a little bit about this subject. Not much, but I can dialog if we keep in simple.

I made some notes and I would like to share in random order. Here we go......

  • Google is the number one search engine.....You Tube is #2.
  • According to NAR, the average home-buyer is 30 years old and the average agent helping is 54.
  • We were advised when meeting with a client to ask them how they want to be contacted I.E. TEXT...EMAIL...PHONE...STALKING (kidding).
  • 9 out of 10 buyers are searching on-line
  • Visit Facebook...under... Business-Real Estate... and look up the title.."REALLY BAD MLS PHOTOS". Bunch of agents have posted some interesting pictures.
  • They demonstrated and showed an agent doing a live video walk-thru going room by room and narrating as they went. It was impressive, engaging,  and provided for a better connection of product to viewer. It definitely puts ordinary photos in 2nd place.
  • Sysco systems reports that 90% of consumer IP traffic will be video
  • Only 39% of Real Estate agents have a social networking presence. This is considered small.

  • Slide comes up on a large screen with TWITTER, FACEBOOK, LINKEDIN AND........ACTIVERAIN. The point was made that you need to jump on board these sites. In my humble opinion, if I did nothing else, my ActiveRain presence has me in the game. The others may improve on that

  • When you do join up...you need a purpose to be different and stand-out. Otherwise, you are just another pretty face. Then, you need to brand yourself.
  • There is a site called mailchimp.com that lets you send out bulk emails via campaigns and track them.

The gist of the whole seminar was to get yourself an online presence...the sooner the better and as much as you can.. while focusing in a particular field and area. Then, wait for the phone calls, referrals and opportunities to roll in.

IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY.....

Hi Richie,  Our board also does a pretty good job of bringing an array of classes to us.  I will check out the mailchimp site.

Thanks for posting Richie. Anytime you can pick up just one tip, the class or seminar has been worth it.

I keep forgetting that YouTube is the Number 2 search engine used.  I don't know how I forget; I use it nearly every day.

Also, Facebook is rapidly ascending.  Some people are predicting that it might overtake Google sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Keep learning and sharing.  It benefits all of us, and it probably helps you reinforce what you've learned.

Great Information! our board provides a "free" five dollar breakfast. The last "training" was title "the impact of court cases on real estate". It was one crazy fellow who was running for a vacant judicial seat. Folks were laughing near the end...

Most Awesome report, Richie. I am also a CE , credit or no credit junke. Can't get enough. I also do more reading than writing at AR. When we sift through a lot of "Ego talking", we can find frontline info.

They listed LinkedIn and Twitter in front of Active Rain for social media presence.  Ha!  No way.  I have a dim view of LinkedIn succeeding as there is no value offer from them.  Twitter is MySpace on a diet...my opinion.  Active Rain and Facebook are where you should concentrate your efforts.

Hello John......your board has a lot to look forward to.... and to set up to give to its members. I see people at our board all week speaking on everything, giving out goodies and materials at no cost to our board. On the really good presentations, the board charges a minimal fee. Everybody wins....Hope you get some sooooon.

M. Suzi...fellow junkie lover......you make a poignant statement about sifting through "ego talking". There is so much depth and breadth to our profession, our journey in life and what we share in common that I like getting to the good stuff right away......so we share that too. You are also correct...it is front-line or hot off the presses stuff when you do get there.

Best

Hey Vic....been a while. Vic...you made a Bulls eye statement. It is going to narrow down on who does what really well.... and for pure raw function and data, give me ActiveRain, then Facebook in that order...thank you.

I started Facebook in August 2009, but I really don't like it. The amount of spam that comes in each day from Facebook, and unknown people wanting to be my friends, is just annoying.
