Abstract Photos - Take It Through Glass

This is a fun thing to try - Abstracts!

Set up a piece of textured glass in front of your subject, in this case I used a bouquet of flowers. Make sure the subject is sufficiently lit, position your subject for a good composition, and take the photo. The closer to the glass your subject is, the more definition there will be, the further away, the less definition there will be.

What you end up with is an abstract photograph. Try differently textured glass, and see what various looks you can acheive.

Have fun!

Debi, your photos are one of the reasons I like photography.  There is so much creativity involved and you as the photographer have so much input and control.  You really are creating something new and presenting a different perspective from something that already exists...it just takes imagination.

Wow that is amazing Debi.  I would never have thought it was a photo but a beautiful painting.  Now I have to find some glass.

Great idea and though somewhat abstract, they really reminded me of impressionism, nicely done!

Hi Debi, this is stunning. First thought that came to my mind was Monet!

On second thought... Pointillism would be more appropriate like the paintings of Georges Seurat...

Hi Silvia - My first thought was Monet too - but you are right, it's not quite right - I will have to look up Seurat :)

Very nice work!  Looks like it was fun to "set up", shoot and then "play with" to get the desired shots.  I saw that you  buy flowers all winter, so do I (year round for me!).  Love having a splash of color on the table, and they just make a person happy...

I always thought that's what Photoshop was for, so that you didn't actually have to carry glass around with you. LOL
