Tiki Bar Solomons IslandIt's The Annual Grand Opening 2010 weekend  in Solomons Island highlighted by the opening of the famous  Tiki Bar.  This year is the Anniversary of 30 years and still going strong! People flock to the  Tiki Bar and Solomons Island from all around the world. Us locals think of it as a mini Mardi Gras in New Orleans! Come be part of the experience.

Solomons Island Tiki Bar opened in 1980, and is a more 80s-style Tiki Bar -- it's open-air, heavy on the party, and light on the Tiki. There have been more additions of Tikiness starting in early 2006, of particular note is the addition of many Bosko carvings and a couple large moai. It's open seasonally, from April through October, and opening day is a major eventTiki Bar Solomons Island, drawing up to 10,000 people.

The bar started as an addition to the Island Manor Hotel, by original owners John and Kathy Taylor. New owners in 2005 have removed the hotel to expand the bar into a restaurant, and to accommodate the Tiki Bar's massive weekend crowds; these new owners are responsible for the stronger emphasis on tiki. A small store has been added that sells t-shirts, sweatshirts and mass-produced modern tiki items. Humuhumu's description

    ahhhh the Tiki Bar !!  We have one in Point Pleasant NJ with a pier that extends out over the beach....lots of fun !  If I am down in the Solomons MD area I will stop in for sure.

    Greetings from Upstate NY! I made my first visit to the Tiki Bar in the late 90's and docked with some friends. I came back for a few years after that but haven't been back since. My friend Gregg went on to open his own version of the Tiki Bar on Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen. I think of the Solomon's version every "Friday after Taxes" and wish so much I was there sipping a Mai tai. Thanks for the memories and congrats on your 30 th Anniversary!
