Our New Community Center took home top honors in the category of facility design-at the California State Parks and Recreation Society's annual award Banquet in Palm Springs last month.
The Center evolved through public workshops and grass-roots organization to secure funding through a voter-approved bond initiative. The Center features a 10-Lane pool, gymnsasium, classrooms, a dance studio, commercial kitchen and an auditorium with stage. The Center was selected to receive the award due to "its commitment to setting new directions by addressing the community-wide issue of building a community center. The agency identified clear a dn measurable outcomes and the CSD played a leading role in bringing together multiple community resources to address the challenge."
