Vacation or More Work?

This is my first year in real estate. My past career in restaurants meant 80 hour work weeks. The stress and burn out can be difficult and after 20 years, I needed a change. I have heard many agents saying that you need to work 80 hours a week in real estate to succeed. I am curious what the successful agents have to say about the number of hours they average and do you take vacations?

The school of thought can very... long hours = success, but if you burn out, you'll have a short career. How important is it to recharge the batteries and stay fresh for your family and clients? What do you think?

Brad - This is my fourth year... Every time I buy a plane ticket I get a "big deal"... It's a great way to get business  (Hahaha)

Taking time off is a must in any business.  Just make sure you have another agent in town to help you out when you leave, because like Brad said.  When you leave you get a "big deal" or something goes wrong.  Just make sure that when the other agent leaves town, you are there to help them.
