Opinions Needed for website!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with The Real Estate Tech Desk

We are finishing up development of a new clients website, and we always like to get the opinions of other agents on what they like and dislike on the website.  We have recently started using Active Rain, and thought it would be great to throw our new sites out to AR for your opinions!

Please Note:  The four links below the HOME BUTTON (that have the wavy underline) currently do not work, and the client tools button is no where near complete....the other sections work, (we are also adding a email FORM on the contact page)

But before we ever finish a project, we like opinions so we can make changes

Please visit:  www.gaylastrickland.com   and respond to this post with your comments.

Thank You,
David

The colour and feel is good. The layout is uncluttered.

The picture of Gayla is a poor overlay - it looks wierd.

There are few calls to action and there is no real reason put forward for me to use Gayla.

About Gayla is written in the third person. I am reading it so it should feel like Gayla is talking to me.

Actually, David, I think the web design and functionality are quite crisp.  I noted that not all connections are in place, but I assume this is due to the design stage of the site.  I'm so so on Gayla's photos, though I think they should match.  All in all, I really liked the functionality of the calculator and the access to listings.

Hi,

I like the idea of soliciting opinions of web-sites here in ActiveRain... Ought to be a group or something....

The picture of Gayla isn't blending well in my eyes either... Maybe a gradual fade of the background behind her picture would look better?

I love the "wave" theme... simple and classy. Color choices come out well...

I assume there will be two more links to finish out the wave...

I'd lose the word "Home" in the Buyer's Center and Seller's Center... No need for it and it makes that section look kinda blocky...

Please feel encouraged to return the favor by reviewing my new site: http://www.NookachampHills.com
This is a secondary site to a specific newer developement, so most of the links go to my primary site. (If you do decide to review my site, please email your thoughts to me. Thanks!

Best regards,

I like the look and feel as well.  As was mentioned - are there 2 more links that will finish out the wave?

Alan:  Thanks for the comments, the "About" section will be rewritten--this is what was in her templated homes.com website for the last 10 years (with a few changes)

Terry:   Thanks!   We are working on modifying her photo to look better, when she had them done, they were taken on dark backgrounds, which really made it difficult to extract!, the calculator section in CLIENT tools is really just temporary, under the NEW CLIENT TOOLS section it will have a ton of buyer/seller info, general info, area info, and of course calculators--about 20 in all!

Beth:  Thank you, that was the goal of the client--clean, crisp, easy, and simple, yet at the same time feature rich, and current with the latest tools

Bill:  Thank you as well!   The wave theme is because North Carolina has a ton of lakes and of course the outer banks, she services Raleigh/Durham and refers out elsewhere!  She likes to focus on a few lakes including Kerr lake.... yes there will be two links to finish the wave or else we will eliminate the buttons, and i will look into removing "home"  and I will definitely take a look at your site!, A group may be a good idea

Mike:  Thanks for the comments (read my reply to bill to answer your question)

All: Under the listings section we just finished the backend system that controls it--for the last year we have been developing this backend system allowing the agent to log in add/edit/delete listings, add/delete photos, and edit each page of content like it was a MS word document, among other things!  Gayla's website is the first site using this new system, and we currently have 13 other sites under development--so more reviews of other sites will eventually needed

I STILL NEED MORE REVIEWS OF THIS SITE Please!!!!  All comments appreciated!

Hi, David - You might want to join and post this on the Website Critique Group.

I know this is still a work in progress and you probably already have plans in place for this - I agree with Bill about putting a navigation link on each of the computer keys at the top.  Only some of them have links now.

I find the wavy line distrcting on the left navigation bar.  And I assume you're building in SEO?

In the end, of course, your client is the only one who has to be pleased with the website!

I really like the buttons, I feel like they are touchable, like I should be using my finger to push them instead of the mouse. I like the curved lines. It adds to the friendly feel of the site.

The index page should be about the viewer, not the agent. I would remove Gayla's picture from the header and add some info about North Carolina above the fold. I have to search the text to find out where she sells. For example, she can say "explore North Carolina" instead of "explore the area". Also, I don't know if she's targeting buyers or sellers because the page is all about her.

Great job on the site's look and feel. She just needs work on her content for that first page.

Crystal,  Thanks for the comment....yes content is something that is going to be worked on--and is  being worked on--I just haven't been able to get her for 2 seconds so we can work on it.  Basically I threw on the text on the first page--just so that there was SOMETHING.  but when its done (we are just working on content--thats the final thing)  the first page will be about her services and the area that she services  - thats a biggie--I think when I went to put in the content it was close to 3am, I wasn't thinking straight...so Thanks for pointing it out.
