Cheap Cleaning tips for Property Maintenance in San Diego, CA

Why pay for cleaning products when you can use basic “green” items you already have in your cupboard?

 

 

 

All purpose Cleaner:

1 cup white vinegar

1 cup water

Great for countertops, and all surfaces in the kitchen. Use in bathroom on toilet seats and sinks. Kick it up a notch by heating the solution first until barely hot. This will remove soap scum and hard water deposits (like the water we have in San Diego, CA)

Flooring:

Sprinkle baking soda on those black heel marks on your vinyl flooring. Use a wet sponge to wipe off.

Dishwashers:

Save time and money by using the cheapest brand of dish washing detergent and adding a few tbsp. of vinegar to the dishwasher. This will cut the grease.

A damp cloth dipped in baking soda will remove coffee or tea stains from fine china.

To clean dishwasher run a cup of white vinegar through an entire cycle of an empty dishwasher.

Clogged drains:

1 c salt water and 1 c of soda (OR 2 cups of bleach followed by a pan of boiling water). The grease will dissolve and open the drain.

Pour a cup of baking soda down any drain and follow with a few cups of boiling water to keep drains running well and smelling good. You can use baking soda just like you would use a powdered cleanser to clean your sink.

Disposal:

Grind orange and lemon rinds in the disposal to remove unpleasant odors.

Appliances:

Rid yellowing from white appliances. Mix together ½ cup bleach, ½ cup baking soda and 4 cups warm water. Apply with a sponge and let sit 10 mintes Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Microwave Oven:

Baked on food is tough to get rid of. Vinegar is the answer. Fill a bowl with ½ vinegar and ½ water, bring to boil , and then use it to wipe food off walls of the oven. It will fall right off. It works because the food gets “steamed” off while the acetic acid in the vinegar sanitizes the oven.
