Enjoying the blog, but I felt I needed to clear up a few facts about the Channel Islands Beach Community Services District's planned WiFi services anticipated to launch by year's end.

First, the service will not be free. The district will be offering monthly subscriptions for under $30. For those who don't want or cannot afford a monthly subscription, hourly access will be offered at much lower rates yet to be determined. Prepaid WiFi access cards will also be available for sale at area merchants, again, for those residents, businesses, boaters, visitors, or weekenders that don't want a monthly subscription.

Secondly, the CIBCSD is, indeed, a local governmental entity with a publically elected board of directors. We are a California special district providing trash, water, sewer, and other community services to the Channel Islands Beach community and to businesses, residents, and live-aboard boaters in Channel Islands Harbor. I serve as vice-president of the board of directors.
