Yesterday, I had my first appointment scheduled for 7:30am. It was a showing on one of my listings in Kittery Maine - a buyer contacted me who had been watching this particular house and had seen the most recent price reduction. Her work schedule was such that she only had time after work to see it, when it would be dark. Being a morning person, I asked her what time she had to be at work, she told me 8am, so I suggested taking a look at it on her way in. She was delighted I'd meet her that early. I don't usually start appointments that early, but I am a morning person, and this particular house is empty.
So, I get over there about 5 minutes before the showing, got all the lighs on, etc. And I waited and waited. I called her on her cell phone, couldn't reach her. Turns out she took a wrong turn and had been trying to reach me to let me know what had happened and she was trying to get there. About 10 minutes before 8am, I closed up the house, knowing she had to be at work in Portsmouth at 8am, and thinking she wouldn't be showing up at that point. Well, she did finally make it there, after I had already left. She had left me a couple of messages apologizing profusely.
I called her later on and we rescheduled for this morning, at 10am. She couldn't believe I'd even consider rescheduling since she missed our appointment yesterday. I show up early, to get the lights on, etc. She was already there waiting for me. She said there was no way she was going to be late this morning. To make sure, she arrived 15 minutes early, content to wait for me to show up.
We introduced ourselves to each other, chuckled about yesterday, and then she handed me a card and said she'd gotten me something to try to make up for the messed up appointment yesterday. How sweet was that? She is really such a sweet person, and I was touched by that gesture. That was a first in my 25 years in this business.......a gift to make up for a messed up appointment and from someone I didn't even know!

I opened up the envelop after I closed up the house and got back in my car......it was a $20.00 gift card for Starbucks! What a nice little surprise, and a nice way to start my appointments for the day! I thought that was such a really nice gesture!
Now, I have to tell you, I don't drink coffee at all, but I'm thinking they must sell food of some kind there. I've never been in a Starbucks store, so I have no idea what they sell other than coffee.
What a really nice touch and a great start to a Saturday morning!
