Why live in Valparaiso, Indiana?  This is a question I get often from many friends and family who have never been to Indiana.  After living here for the past 4 years, I now realize that there are many good reasons to live in Valparaiso, Indiana, our Vale of Paradise.  Here are just a few:

  • Voted the 2009 Community of the Year by the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce
  • Below the national average in property and violent crimes
  • Population of about 37,000 people
  • Many parks and lakes for picnics, hikes, and other outdoor activities
  • Housing to fit any budget from loft apartments to estate living
  • Beautiful downtown area with many cafes and a variety of places to browse and shop
  • Easy access to Chicago either by car, train, or bus
  • Many beautiful historical homes and buildings in the downtown area
  • A thriving downtown with things to do year round
  • Popcorn Festival every September
  • Hot Air Balloon Fest sponsored by the Kiwanis in conjunction with the Popcorn Festival
  • 4 beautiful seasons to enjoy
  • Easy and quick drive to Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes

These are only a few of the reasons I have come to truly enjoy living in Valparasio, Indiana.  If you are relocating to Northwest Indiana, contact me, Irene Tron, and I'll show you around my hometown of Valparaiso.  The entire Mulitple Listing Service of Northwest Indiana is also available on my website, Valparaiso Indiana Real Estate for your convenience.

I like how progressive and "hip" Valpo has become with ValpoLife, the online media and their activities on Twitter.

Great list, Irene.
