SOUTHFIELD POINT in Stamford is part of a peninsula adjoining both Davenport Point and Dolphin Cove. Within a little more than a mile radius, you can take the 46 minute express train to midtown Manhattan, take a bus to the Stamford mall, enjoy dining at the waterside promenade, do your weekly shopping at 3 different grocery stores, take out library books or join an exercise class at numerous health clubs.

All Southfield and Davenport Point residents have deeded rights to the water and what is known as the Plaza, which hosts 21 dock slips for residents.  The two associations publish a set of  Plaza and Dock facility rules as well as an allocation and assignment procedure for the use of the boat slips. The rules focus on ensuring a safe, clean environment for members and their guests. Boat slip users pay a bond, refundable when they leave the area. The open slip is then assigned to the next person on the waiting list.

MUNICIPAL recreational installations scattered across the city include the 18 hole Sterling Farms and Brennan golf courses, Halloween Yacht Club, the Terry Connors Ice Rink, 30 public tennis courts, 22 baseball and softball fields, Cummings Park Beach, Cove Island Beach and Scalzi Park.  A $15 residents parking sticker is all that is required for most admissions.

Southfield Point residents are a five minute drive from Stamford's 875,000 square foot Town Center, (currently under a major renovation) a regional mall anchored by Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's, a brand new Target and dozens of additional shops along the downtown streets.  Lord & Taylor is farther uptown in the area known as Bulls Head.

For ENTERTAINMENT, the Stamford Center for the Arts and the refurbished Palace Theater offer a full season major symphony, pop concerts, dance, opera, Broadway-bound plays and musicals as well as children's programs.  Stamford downtown also becomes "Alive at Five" during the summer months and last year hosted such big names as Hootie and the Blowfish.  And of course there is always our great big balloon parade which is the 2nd largest in the US!

Additional amenities in the city include a full-service teaching hospital including a cancer center and outstandng neo-natal unit, a branch of the University of Connecticut offering a full degree progam and Masters Program, the Bartlett Arboretum, the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, a daily newspaper and AM-FM radio station, a main library with three branches, numerous nursery schools,  highly rated garden clubs and innumerable civic, social and fraternal organizations.
