Pet Friendly Housing in Boca Raton Florida Can Sometimes Be Difficult To Find...
Pet Friendly Housing in Boca Raton Can Sometimes Be Difficult to Find; however, it's not impossible. Of course, there are many variations that come into play when we talk of pet friendly housing in Boca Raton. Do you have a dog? Is it one dog, two dogs or multiple dogs? How much do they weigh? What are their breeds? All of these are important questions that we need to know the answers to before we go out looking for homes.

Whether you own two yorkies, a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, a Boxer, a Golden Retriever, a Lab or even a pair of Labs, the question is always: Where are the pet-friendly gated communities in Boca Raton. Many communities in Boca Raton are pet friendly and will accept pets up to a maximum weight of 25 lbs. Some will only accept one pet. Some will accept two dogs up to a maximum weight of 35 lbs. That's great for someone who has two shih tzus. What about the person who has a Golden Retriever weighing 75 lbs? That's not going to work for him/her.

Then we get into restricted breeds and HOAs or COAs - Homeowners Associations and Condo Associations. In Boca Raton, pet-friendly communities are not pet friendly to restricted breeds. What they mean by restricted breeds are pit bull, rottweiler and in some cases they have gone further and included other large breeds. Each homeowner and/or condo association is different, so we need to check this. If you have what is termed a restricted breed, I know you love him or her, but plan on buying a house on a street not in a community. There is no pet-friendly community that will accept them. Sorry!

If it's a gated pet-friendly community in Boca Raton and they accept one dog, they will not accept your two dogs whose total weight combined is 20 lbs. Doesn't work that way! One dog equals one dog. I also have two dogs and have had the same problem for years. Please realize if you have two dogs, there is pet-friendly housing for you; however, your choices will be more limited. There are still homes for sale in Boca Raton that will suit your needs, be it a house, townhouse or condo if you have two dogs - even if they're two Golden Retrievers, two Labs, or two Maltese.
Cats are a different story in Boca Raton and much easier. Unless the rules in the pet-friendly community are referring to a bird, you can usually have a cat. After all, cats don't make noise like dogs do!

We have the same thing in Westchester NY. It's really hard for someone with a large dog or more than one dog to find housing in a condo or cooperative. It CAN be done, but you are looking for the dog(s) more than the buyer.
Hi Elyse,
Good information for pet owners
Hi Elyse,
Love the pics - we see lots of cats and dogs turned into our local shelters because of no affordable "pet friendly" housing.
Ruthmarie, Sounds like you've got the exact same situation as I do. A lot of people (me included) have two small dogs. This present the same problem as one very large dog.
Robert - Thanks!
Dana - Thanks! That's so sad! I go out of my way to help people who have pets find pet-friendly housing. Their choices may be limited, but I do my best to find them something.
Hi Elyse, most developments here will let you have a dog. Some have weight requirements but not many. It's hard when a buyer is limited. Love the photos of the cute dogs. I'm such a dog lover!
Hi Jackie - Thanks! I'm a dog lover too!
