Many of you have been following the saga of my bout with throat cancer.  My Dr just called with the results of the biopsy last Wed and unfortunately they were not good.  There is still cancer in my throat.  I am going to see him on Thursday to see what my options are but they will probably have to go in and remove my voice box along with the cancer.  It is not exactly what I wanted to here today and I must admit I am a bit down.

We have all had hills to climb and I thought I had mine whipped but I guess not. Soooooooo, I have another challenge to face and will do so with all of my strength and hope and prayer.  I know you all will support and pray for me and you have no idea how much I cherish these thoughts and prayers.

I see him again on Thurs and will let you all know what plan B will be.

Good Luck, Good Lending and Aloha

Bruce - I'm sorry to see that you didn't get better news.  I was hoping that the next blog I saw from you would be about your enjoying a hot dog with mustard, relish and onions.  I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.          ~Rebecca

Hi again Bruce,

I have been waiting to hear the results. I too am sorry they are not what you had hoped for. Have you gotten some other opinions or are you considering doing that? I guess the best thing to do is find out what they have in mind and ask a ton of questions. My Dad traveled across the country to get his treatment. While not cheap or convenient, it was probably the best thing he could do. He was treated at Loma Linda in California where it was tough, but so far effective.

Somehow, I get the feeling that not much can stop you no matter what :) You seem to have a great spirit about you that will shine through in tough times. My best to you Bruce, keep smiling.

Hi Wendy -- That is the next step I guess.  My wife and I have not yet talked about it as we just got the word about an hour ago and I am in town at work.  Thanks for your thoughts and advice.  Aloha

Bruce, I am so sorry about the news.  I was thinking of you yesterday and today as I was reading here on AR and checked to see if I had missed the post from you about the results of the biopsy.

I will continue to pray for you and your wife.  I am sure this has been a difficult time for her as well.

We'll put the Hot Dog Celebration on hold and wait for Plan B.

Thinking of you...

Bruce

I am also disappointed that you did not receive better news. Now you have to turn it all over to the higher authority. He really is in charge. We will all continue to pray, there is power in prayer and we hope he will answer our many prayers. I will watch for your continued blogs and encourage you to please give us updates. We are here for you.

Hi Justin --Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.  I have been around the world three times and been to two worlds fair's so I think I do have a lot of sage advice to share with the new comers in this business.  I will do that as long as I am able to.  Aloha

Sorry to hear that the news was not good.  From what I have read about you, I believe you are one tough son-of-a-gun and can make it through this.  Be strong, and trust that it will take you where you need to go.  You'd think by now that character building wouldn't be necessary.  Hang in.

Bruce-I am equally devestated in hearing the news.  With so much tragedy in our lives lately, I was hoping only happy times would be ahead.  I know its not much to look forward to but at least you will be around to enjoy your wife, children, grandchildren and dogs if they do have to go in and do that surgery.  Of course, we are hoping for the best for you.

Bruce, no.  I know that that isn't what you wanted to hear.  While "plan B" must be terrifying for you, you will do JUST FINE with the voicebox.  I've met so many people that speak with one, and it simply won't prevent you from functioning at the same level at work.  No one can take away the bad news; no one that isn't in your shoes can understand; but you are such a fine person that we can only hope that your fear is lessened knowing of the support and best wishes that everyone you've touched sincerely extends to you.  Again, I'm so sorry for the news.
