Baby Animal Time at Olympia's Lattin Farms

By
Industry Observer

What a fun visit we had yesterday to Lattin's Farm in Olympia!!  Springtime is baby animal time and the farm had lots of babies to admire and photograph!

I think that my little granddaughter liked the baby goats best - and I have to admit they were super cute!  The littlest ones were fast asleep together under a tree.

Sleeping goat babies

The slightly bigger ones were busy chasing each other and playing, and then detouring over to mom for a quick snack!

Baby goats playing

The floppy ears on these little goats were part of their charm.

Hungry babies

There were also baby bunnies, tiny chicks, and a small pig playing in his enclosure.

Cute little pig

And besides all the baby animals, there is always the fun of a little spin on the horse - merry-go-round horses that is!!  Ride 'em cowgirl!!

Giddyap horsie!

All in all, a good day at Lattin's Farm - and somehow we didn't even get any of their scrumptious apple fritters!  Next time...

Hi Nancy, those goats are adorable.  They look soft, are they?

Hi Liz - they sure are adorable!  And yes, they were soft though the mom was pretty protective of them coming over too close to the fence.

Thanks Constantine!  And actually the truth is that we went so late in the afternoon that they were out of fritters!  So you are right that truly forgetting them might be a pretty unlikely thing - but there is always next visit!  Their apple cider is amazing too!  Oh great - now I'm hungry and thirsty :)

I am convinced that if I had as much as 5 acres of land, I would need to have a pair of goats, a couple lambs, a pot bellied pig or two, and a herd of chickens:-)

I appreciate all of your comments!  It was a really fun outing - and there is just something special about the combination of children and baby animals - my camera got a workout!!!  And stop back by on Wednesday as I am saving my very favorite picture of the resident peacock at Lattin's with his tail in full regal display - should make a good & colorful Wordless Wednesday post...

How adorable.  I can't wait until my grandsons are old enough to enjoy days like these.  I have a friend who had two goats and they were very friendly.  They did a good job at keeping the yard trimmed too!

John - yes the floppy ears made them look a little bit like puppies - so cute!

Sharon - it did cross my mind that they would be a very fun way to keep the lawn trimmed (though I don't think my dogs would approve!).  And yes, days like this with a grandchild are priceless!!!
