Can A Listing Agent Realy Only Work M-F ?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Group One, Inc.

We all know how many hours we need to put into this business to be successful right? I thought we did, but seeing wording like this on MLS from listings agents makes me wonder. "Seller ( this is a nice way of saying listing agent right?) kindly requests that all offers be presented to the xyz listing agent via email, fax or hand delivery, between 8am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday". So the question is... Will this work? Will no weekends really work in the real estate business? Please let me know if we are just crazy working 6+ days a week???

I mark off Sundays but have had to forfeit them quietly this past year to learn social networking and all the new tech tools for my business this past year. I'm with you on working the six plus days a week. I do notice that more paperwork comes in weekdays .

6 Days a week????  I live in a resort town.  I work every/any day that a customer IS HERE, which many weeks turns into 7 days!!!  But if I want to take off 3 or 4 days.... I do!

Mike and Belinda,

That what I call a limited service!  Although it may not be a limited service company - in my opinion that are providing limited service.  I wonder if the seller knows they only work 9-5 M-F?  I find myself working at least 7 days a week and probably about 12-14 hours day.  I'm not always showing houses or on listing appointments but updating my blogs, responding to emails, making appointments, showings, etc.  Hey, what works for the goose isn't always good for the gander, right?

Must not be a very hungry listing agent or a motivated Seller. The reality of successful real estate sales is that you need to be available when it is convenient for the buyers and sellers.

I guess we each have to run our business as we wish.  Are we a 24-hour convenience store, or something else?

I've heard rumors about real estate companies in FL that are open only weekdays, and I envy them.  If our industry is to move to a M-F model, then we all have to be willing to do it so that consumers can make the adjustment.

Lenders, attorneys, title companies - they mostly work M-F, and consumers take time off work to make their appointments with these pros.  Why can't we folks in real estate demand the same?  (I know the answer - fear.  Fear that someone else will take our potential clients when we have our days off.)
