Are you prepared if the ball is hit right to you?

How focused are you in your business when times are slow and you don't seem to be getting any business? This is the true test of a successful business person if you ask me. If you are distracted by other things than your business when the business comes you just may miss it.

Look at this picture, baseball to me is a great example of the real estate business. When times are slow a lot of people are stuck playing in the dirt rather than preparing for when the ball is hit right to them. Do you think this player will be ready if the ball is hit to them or do you think the player behind them who is ready will get it? I know the answer and you better also, becuase if not, when the  ball is hit, you may not be ready and it may just pass you by.

I've learned to succeed by telling myself EVERY ball is coming to me.

So I'm always prepared.

Reminds me of the mental and physical routines that I would go thru - even as a left fielder, before every pitch.

Todd - I sure try to be, although I have to admit that sometimes the ball takes a weird bounce.  :)

Good advice Todd, yes you are right you have to always be focused on business.  It is sometimes difficult if things are slow, but isn't strange that when you stay focused, you see the opportunity and can seize them!

Todd

I would be having people hit grounders to me until I could catch them in my sleep and a real fly ball came at me I could hold my head up high.

Todd,

You never know what curve balls are coming your way in real estate.  It helps to be prepared.

However, if you need a good laugh for the day, go down to your neighborhood baseball park and watch a T-ball game.  It's hysterical, as you know.  Runs can score, while the outfielders are deciding who gets to throw the ball in!!!

All the best, Michelle

Hi Todd, An intriguing subject indeed. I love the comments. Damn the torpedoes. I had someone call me and ask if I would be interested to listing her home. Immediately I blurted out,  No! I could hear almost faint when she said "What".

I jumped right back in and said I would be delighted to help her sell it. I work as a team. Myself and the Sellers. We work out the price, the strategy and we get the job done.  Listing a property is what some of my competitors do.

Todd -

Your blog batting record is way above the League average.

You not only help Beaverton/Tigard families home.

You're almost to hit one out of the park......a million points on ActiveRAIN.

Just 7727 left to go... here in the bottom of the ninth (hundred thousand).

A little over a week before .... you go on to extra innings.

Todd, great analogy.  I've been out there on the field day dreaming and have missed balls.  Probably the same at work.
