EVER KILLED YOUR OWN CHICKEN.........EVICTIONS UP CLOSE...NOT PRETTY

When you are involved with something first hand....it takes on a new and more deeper meaning close up. Just like you are used to buying meat at the grocer....all neat, pretty and clean while it's being presented at its best...someone (s) had a hand it bringing it to that point. Let the reader use their imagination here.  Reverse engineer the process (right back to baby chicks...how cute) and it takes on a different meaning........now that I have your attention my subject is..............

EVICTIONS

As a property manager..... for years, I have seen my share and then some.... of seeing someone being kicked out of their apartment, house or trailer. It is one of the saddest things to behold and takes place every day throughout the United States and Cities across this great country.

The process involves ....someone going through the judicial system and obtaining a court order to have you physically removed from the property. PLEASE...do not choose a side as to whether it is justified or not. THAT IS NOT MY POINT..

For whatever reason....., people either move-out before the scheduled eviction or are right there when it happens. The ones that stayed in possession to the last moment also STAYED in my mind too......

The individual or family..... is awoken from sleep or breakfast by a knock on the door from a Marshall or Sheriff commanding them to open the door right now. It opens and the tragedy begins. Again, don't choose a side.......

Men are reduced to mice...., women start crying and children get very scared. It is not good. They are escorted out, locked out, and told if they re-enter the premises....they will be arrested for trespass. Most often asked question...What about my things? It is up to the Owner, landlord, property manager or bank to make a decision in regards to the question...... is the reply. SEEING AND HEARING THIS UP CLOSE UP IS MOST DISTURBING....

I passed by the courthouse the other day. I visit there frequently. On the steps were people waiting and talking with the Trustee in regards to bidding on foreclosed homes. All shrewdy, intelligent deal-makers doing good Real Estate business. I have no problem with that. Someone has to do it. I took a few minutes to reflect and remember that all those people were there because of someone else's failure......even their misfortune...please refrain from choosing a side just yet.

Cash for keys..... and relocation expenses came into being because of the thousands that got booted out without it. There suffering at least brought about some change for the future defaulter......didn't help them though. You do not know these people, but they are out there.....somewhere.

I have left a....... lot out of this post. There is so many points of view on this subject. Some good, some bad....some justified.... but none of it pleasant for anyone involved....that I can assure you.

EVER DONE AN EVICTION? I know it is a job and has to be done. Make sure you take your heart with you when you go. I promise you..... you will never forget it if you do..............

NOW.......YOU MAY COMMENT AND CHOOSE A SIDE..................

The scale in which this is happening is horrifying. Most of the public, who are not directly affected by the current housing problems, have no idea the scope of the problem that  we see on a daily basis. Its very sad.

Hi Richie,  No, we have never had any part of an eviction.  And I hope we don't.  I can only imagine the suffering that occurs.  Tough topic.  ~Lisa

The worst for me is the children's room. My clients closed on a foreclosure last week and there was still spider man stickers in one room. And inside the closet was the kid's name and lines indicating his growth.

Even though the parents bought the house that was HIS room. I sure hope they landed on their feet. Not being a fan of large government, I still think we should offer free counseling to folks that go through a foreclosure. Here's to better times!

Sanna has said it.....thank you

Lisa......the topics that get in you "deep" and stay with you haunting you.....for whatever reasons.....well this is one of them. Thank you Lisa

Doug....excellent point made on the child's point of view. The parent (s) suffers twice..once for themselves and once for the kid (s)...even the officers doing the eviction are strained and affected when kids are involved. I will toast to better times with one condition.........that it is FOR EVERYONE! Thanks for stopping by......

Doug--You make a good point about the kids.  Seldom (if ever) is it their fault that their parents messed up things.  Yet, they still have to pay the price, and it might take years of counseling--that many never get--to help them learn how to cope properly.  Very unfortunate situation--very good point!

I feel more pity for the owner when a tenant knows "the system" and makes a living playing in it.

I feel even more pity for the tenant who has paid his or her rent reguarly, only to find that the landlord has not. *Knock Knock* "You're outah here!" THAT is a problem that I don't know how to solve, but it is absolutely horrendous. Talk about victims here--especially those with families.
