Every Home Needs a Deep Spring Cleaning

Espcially one that is for sale.  In your busy life it is difficult to find time to run a vacuum and clean the bathroom on a regular basis.  Even if you are regular about it, dust, dirt and grime build up in places you seldom clean such as baseboards, blinds, ceiling fans and door jams.  With a thorough Spring cleaning, which actually should be done at least once every few months, you get by with the basics.  Now if your home is on the market or you are about to list it, this should be an absolute priority.

The big job of a thorough cleaning entails cleaning ever nook and cranny, from vacuuming under the couch and under the seat cushions to dusting the uppermost corners of your wall. Like thos cob webs you walk by everyday but don't really see.  Sometimes this takes a couple of weekends to completely accomplish, taking one or two rooms at a time completely apart and really doing a thorough job.  Make piles of things to throw out or donate to charity. If there is one area that is particularly disorganized take the time  to either pack things away or perhaps purchase some things that will help you and still look good.  Dust every baseboard, every ceiling fan and window sill.  Straighten all closets and dust them too.  Steam clean your carpets, getting the spots out.  Oh and don't forget those medicine cabinets.

Lastly, make sure you have completed all projects, like that one last small piece of molding that never made it up or a missing handle, whatever it is.  Lubricate squeaky doors or sticking locks. Even dust the utility room and oil tank.

You can deep Spring clean anytime and I promise you will enjoy the results. If you are selling your home though, this MUST be a priority.  With all the competition you will likely have on the market, this will help give you the edge you need.  Buyers appreciate a clean and well organized home and feel often it is a reflection of the owners and how they have cared for the home while they have lived there.
