Oh, the topic of reblog always surfaces for various reasons.  I find that many of the articles I write are reblogged and sometimes very often.  I love it and appreciate it but sometimes the reblogger is short changing themselves.

Reblog | Repeat | Relive | Revive | Revisit | Recoupe | Reproduce

In most cases people re blog articles because of the quality of content and because it can be beneficial not only in saving time but also important information for their clients and customers.

To me reblogging is a win win situation but you must make the re-blog your own in order to gain the true benefits of reblogging.  Many times posts are reblogged without anything written by the reblogger....

So how do you make a reblog your own?  It's very simple.....

Start with an intro...address your target readers...next ask yourself why are you reblogging this article?  Put into words and explain why you felt it was important for your readers to know this information.  Maybe your spin on the article or the benefits to your local market.

Bottom line..in order to use reblog to the maximum capacity...it simple

  • Add an intro
  • Explain the benefits of this post to your readers
  • A link to either your site or your ActiveRain profile

Yes reblogging an article has its benefits meaning...25 points...additional content for your readers but if you want to use reblogging to benefit your blogging efforts...add a commentary and make the reblog your own.

I had my doubts about reblogging after reading negative posts concerning the fact.  But I've taken a second look and think you have a good point.  I'm reblogging once again.  Good post.

Midori:  I think of a reblog as a guest speaker or writer for my blog.  Another view, another opinion that I would like my readership to learn from or just share an idea or happening.  I write pretty good intros and always highlight the name & city of the original poster.  I think it is a polite way of business sharing. There are a few people here that are abusing it I understand but for the most part it's worked out well.

Morning Midori,  Another well thought out and presented post.  I reblog when the content is likely to add a point of view or data otherwise lacking .

I've thought about reblogging but am not sure of the protocol especially since their are copyright issues. So are we talking about reblogging our own posts or reblogging someone else's? And inregards to the link is the protocol to link to whoever wrote the blog in the first place? Inquiring minds want to know...

I had not thought of the link idea. I like the idea of what you can summarize or what catches your eye about the post that you have selected to reblog.

I always take the chance on a reblog and try to insert a key word or two as long as it makes sense.

A member reblogged a post of mine yesterday, and did not leave a comment.  So, I went to his post and wrote a thank you for reblogging message.

Midori - Rock on !  You are so right, many reblogs do not have utilize the recommendations you provide.    It can be so much more of a useful tool and complement a blog if the blogger takes a few more minutes to personalize the reblog to address the readers.

Thank you for the guidance Midori (I love your name). I have yet to reblog a post but have been curious about how it works, and just saw one that seems like a good candidate.

After reading this article, I guess I would compare reblogging a post without adding value to flipping a house for more money without improving it.
