You know the drill:
...IF plans are made:
...PLANS will be changed
...IF you have written it on your calendar
...YOU should have done so in erasable ink
...IF you are ready to get started
...THEY are behind in general schedule
All the best laid plans.....often go awry
Found out that construction will N OT begin until the end of MAY!
That means the 4-6 weeks is extended.
That also means that Things in remodel or reface is really going well here in Macomb County, MI
How cool is that. How can I even complain?
Today, Sal had some client business to deal with
...received permission from the Condo Association AND a phone number where any potential Buyer can get their
Association questions answered. How great is that to put on the site?
...He delivered some marketing items to local Businesses & Real Estate Brokerages in the area
...He did some other listing items
...I started to pull the carpet from the Master here in our Home
...Moved all the furniture out except for beds [ yes, we have 2 Dbl. beds--Sal got a lung problem on an overseas
Business trip years ago & must sleep almost upright.]
...Found out that our work knives needed blade changes to cut through carpet
...Cut away, rolled up, Duct taped, & placed on front porch [ bad decision discovered later in process]
...Managed to get all but one 6' area cut,& processed before Sal returned
...He finished last piece & started on removal of tack strip--not an easy job on cement [ this wing of home is on a slab]
...I said that now would move all the front porch items to covered area in back yard
...The decision to NOT carry all carpet / pad rolls through home turned against me
...I'm sure that I made at least 1,000 trips [ OK, but the room is 18' X 15' & all must be in 4' taped rolls
...Thus, first decision was not so good at the end of process.
As Sal was chiseling away in Master, I got supper ready. He was willing to stop.
He did have that 'punch-drunk' look--you know with eyes rolling around in your head & ears ringing.
After eating and clean up, [Sal does the dishwasher thing- Also, washes windows &, AND cleans Bathrooms--he does good work & does not charge too much. LOL] He finished the remaining work.
One hour later, he called me & said about 10 more minutes & we can put master back together. My answer was somehting like this--"don't let me wander around this house too long--I may not remember what it is that I was going to do"
He didn't. We finished. Brought some rugs from basement storage that will cover cement. Ordering new carpet on the morrow.
Discovered that when things don';t go as planned [as I planned], the world does go on;
Others plans are first in line;
That's cool all around.
This Home is going to be really beautiful once all is complete; 'maybe' we'll NOT sell after all.
I'm tempted.
Did this once before--remodeled then sold with little time to enjoy.
The right thing at the time.
As the song 'sings' Our time will come...
We do make a good team.
