Three years ago I started the first BNI chapter in the Tri-City region. I was leary at first of the "Amway" feel to the organization plus weekly meetings...forget about it! Since that time I have closed nearly $100,000 is business from my BNI affiliation. In addition the skills that you learn as a BNI members are invaluable. Networking properly is an artform. It is most often a learned behavior. Few are "natural networkers". Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertising with the biggest ROI that I know of. You can find a list of BNI chapters in your neighborhood at www.bni.com. Each group has a different "culture/vibe" visit several before you find the right fit for you! Remember "Givers Gain!"

Glad you are getting results with BNI. I (Gary) didn't like the feeling of forced leads and started my own group a few months ago and took all the things out that we didn't like about BNI. You are right its all about word of mouth!

I looked into joining a BNI group where I am, and every one of them is taken with agents. I know I should start my own group.... I was thinking of starting my own referral group outside of BNI, with a few people in similar fields but dont know if people would commit to it.

There aren't any bni groups in my area that have openings for real estate agents. I talked to a couple of people a couple of years ago to see about starting our own but they didn't seem interested in it. I need to give it another try. I know they work.

It's easy to understand the home buying process when it is explained to you in make sense terms. I believe that you should make an informed decision when it comes to investing in real estate. I like to take the guesswork and stress out of the process. Afterall, it's your money!
