Orange barrells, here they come! Are you on top of the road projects in your neighborhood? Is it important to know where the new highway is going? Here in the Salt Lake Valley there are dozens of new and existing projects to help with the infrastructure. UDOT is going to be putting in a new system, the first of it's kind on 5400 South between Redwood Road and the Bangerter Highway. Here is a link to see a demonstration of how it works: http://www.udot.utah.gov/wego/5400-south-flex-lanes.html
Last fall I had a client who was very interested in a home in West Jordan. As we were doing our due diligence I suggested that we check the new project called the Mountain View Corridor to see how close it might be to the home we were preparing to make an offer on. Turns out the new highway would be just over the back wall of the home. Now this might work for some people who would like the quick access to the new highway. It however did not appeal to my client. This highway may not be in for a few years but I am glad that we checked to see it was coming so my client wouldn't be upset with me when they found out it was coming through there.
The various road projects will be affecting real estate for years to come. Many homes will have to give way for road widening projects. Will affect the noise levels in many quiet neighborhoods. We need to proceed with caution and make sure we know what the future plans for roads are in areas our clients are looking.
