Southborough Town HallIs it Southborough Town House or Southborough Town Hall?

In the heart of Southborough on 17 Common Street, you will find a building that is identified as "Southborough Town House."  This building is actually Southborough's official town hall.

The Southborough Town Hall is open for business on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m; Tuesday from 8:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. and on Fridays the town hall is open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

The town hall is located in a pretty setting in the center of town right next to St. Mark's Church.

St. Mark's Church

St. Mark's is an Episcopal church that was founded in 1860 by Joseph Burnett.  Burnett was a Southborough resident and a businessman and chemist.  He developed and marketed his world-famous Burnett Vanilla Extract and was also the owner of Deerfoot Farms.

As a successful local business owner as well as a concerned citizen, Burnett founded St. Mark's School and St. Mark's Church. St. Mark's School is not far from the town center.  Located on 250 acres in its historic setting, the campus provides a beautiful setting with its Tudor styled buildings for the distinguished private school which is now in its 140th year.

Fay School - SouthboroughJoseph Burnett also played a role in the founding of the Fay School which is across the street from the Southborough town hall.

The Fay School in Southborough was founded in 1866 and is a coeducational day and boarding school for 465 students ranging from pre-kindergarten through grade 9.  The school attracts students throughout the country as well as fifteen foreign countries.  Through its exceptional program it strives to prepare children for the challenging world of secondary school education as well as beyond school life itself.

The town of Southborough borders on Westborough, Hopkinton and Ashland.

Cannon

On a beautiful day like today you can walk through the Southborough town center and admire, not only these historic buildings, but also the war memorial and symbolic cannon on the green.

Nice profile of Southborough! The Town House actually has a very interesting history as a former social center of the town. At one point it even housed an indoor basketball court!
