Are REBarCamps still the "Rage"? Why?

Are ReBarCamps still the right format for this industry?  Is the we'll figure it out when we all get there meeting the BEST way to teach and learn and grow our knowledge base?

For many it is.  But others struggle with the format...

In Atlanta - they already have a great "formatted" conference with RE Tech South.  Top line speakers, high level discussions.

Is the adhoch BarCamp format something folks there will "Cotton to"??

The Atlanta market is the home to REtechSouth, the premiere real estate technology conference in the Southeast.  It draws some of the best experts in Technology and Social Networking for real estate in the country.  I'm not going to even try to name all of the incredible speakers that come to RETSO, because I would miss a favorite...

Several hundred real estate professionals came from all over the Southeast... and beyond... to learn the latest in tech and touch.  It was two amazing days of learning and networking.  I have been to all three RETSO events, and hope to make it next year... and the year after that, too.

I also was lucky enough to be at the first reBarCamp in San Francisco just before the Inman Connect in 2008.  Talk about an incredible event...

Since then, I have also 'attended' two virtual reBarCamps and been to reBarCamps in Charlotte, NC, and Raleigh, NC.  Both events were great experiences for learning, sharing and networking.  There is something special and unique about a live (in-person) reBarCamp.

I spent some time on the phone with Eleanor Thorne, the force behind rebcRDU.  I also talked a bit with Patty Keller of AnotherMe... who put a lot into RETSO.  Both chats were pretty informal, but some great ideas came out of them...

And they led to...

Should there be an rebcATL?

If there were to be rebcATL, it would have to be in the fall... far away from RETSO.  It would have to be more intimate... more discussion... more variety.  But that leaves a LOT of questions and ideas.  Of course, we had a lot more ideas, and a few answers to those questions, but that would be for later...  ;^ )

So...

  • Should there be an rebcATL?
  • Would you want to come to rebcATL?
  • If you are a local RE pro, are you willing to step up and help make it happen?
  • Would your company want to sponsor rebcATL?

I can't wait to hear YOUR answers...
