It's important to have a positive mental attitude to be successful in real estate.

Having a positive mental attitude is a critical component to being successful in your real estate business. Here is an example of two different mind-sets I recently experienced with two different agents in Manassas, VA.

I was attending a social event and began talking to someone who turned out to be an agent. She we positive in her general outlook and positive about her real estate business. She was more than willing to talk about real estate with me. Another agent friend joined in the conversation.

After talking for some time another agent walked by. Someone in the crowd shouted out to her and said, "hey that's where the real estate people are!" pointing to the three of us. This agent returned a sour look and said, "ugh, I'm done with real estate for the day!" and walked away.

I continued to talk to the other agents and it turned out as I explained the type of properties I'm looking for, my new agent friend told me of a property that fit my criteria. I told her that I will work with any agent who brings me a property and will sign a broker buyer agreement for that one property and make an offer. Within 24 hours my offer was about to be submitted when the property was withdrawn from the market.

My new agent friend and I missed the opportunity to do business together on that property, but we came close. And we established a relationship which will be of mutual benifit in the future as well as a new friendship.

The sour agent missed an opportunity to work with a new client and didn't make any new friends.

It's important to have a positive mental attitude to be successful in real estate.

I'm always looking for opportunity to make money in real estate. It's easy and fun to work with agents who have a positive mental attitude. They find and attract more business and I am attracted to where the action is and want to work with agents who have a kick-ass attitude toward success.

A few days ago I had the privilege of being invited by a Broker to attend a presentation to a group of ReMax agents as an outside observer. The speaker presented several factors critical to running a successful real estate business. The first and most important factor is A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE.

John, It is the most important thing to have. A positive mental attitude in business and in live in general just makes for better friends and business partners. If you hang around friends who are negative you will find yourself getting negative the same with business. Success breeds success and a winning attitude rubs off on those around you. Your attitude is refreshing.
