So today as usual these days I am running around like a chicken without a head when I realize it is time to change vehicles and head off to meet the "sign guy." Now as most of you know I have made an affiliation change and I am now with Keller Williams so I am in the process of getting all of my signs changed over to Keller Williams colors and logo. I still have more signs to hand over and he has some re-done to hand back to me. I head into town to meet with the "sign guy" to make our swap and as we finish swapping he looks in the back of his rather large pick up truck and says "Aw man I think I lost my rabbit." I look in the back of the "empty" pick up truck and say "what??" I am totally convinced he is yanking my chain. He says "there is a rabbit back here somewhere!" So again I look-don't see anything and say "Yeah okay...." and start to head off. "No" he says, "it was on the side of the road at a job where I was and it was being attacked by crows." NOW he has my complete attention. Anyone who knows me knows how I feel about animals-especially ones that might be hurt. My house has been the home for wayward animals many times over the years! So I go and look at the bed again and nothing....hhhmmmm...so he opens the bed and you know the space under the toolbox when you have a toolbox bolted in a pickup? This teeny tiny bunny was scrunched into that space. So "the sign guy" who is now my hero for having rescued this poor bunny helped get the bunny out of there and I wrapped it in my jacket and hopped back into my truck so I could take it home because it was too warm too leave it in the bed of his pickup. It was bleeding from an ear and you could tell there were areas where the hair had been pulled out. I only have the one picture because taking pictures scared him/her so I didn't want to keep doing it.
So I took the rabbit home and put it in a box with nice soft towels-gave it grass and water and will set it free tomorrow as long as it makes it through the night tonight okay. We have tons of rabbits in our yard but I think I will be bringing it to a friend's house because she also has rabbits and they have a safe haven under her shed. Since this rabbit is so small I am hoping by bringing it there it will have a little bit better of a chance of being safer and being taken care of by the other rabbits. Who knows? Wishful thinking? I hope not.
As for "the sign guy" I wanted to be able to put up a link for his website because not only did he do a fantastic caring thing today but he does a terrific job on the signs that he is doing for me. Unfortunately it is not up and running just at this moment. For now I will just have to leave a name and a phone number. His name is Ryan and he is from SimGraphix. His number for business requests is 845-721-2575. Thanks Ryan!
This is the kind of story that I like to hear. It makes me smile from ear to ear. Not just one person saved the rabbit's life . . .two did. It feels good . . .doesn't it. What a nice thing the two of you did!!
Thank you for posting and sharing your very informative article.
Wishing you continued success.
Awww, what a good deed! BTW, I wish we had a sign guy here on Kauai. When I switched to KW I had to order new ones from the mainland and shipping was as much as the signs.
Well that's testimonial enough for me. If I was in the area, he'd be my go to guy for all my sign needs.
Oh Deb! What a wonderful story! I hope he will be OK - and tell Ryan he's my hero too!
Debi
What a great story - and I hope that rabbit will be ok. Ryan is a awesome guy for rescuiing the bunny!
Hi Debra,
A very nice story and you had my attention all the way through. Glad Ryan was able to retrieve the bunny and keep it safe from further harm. We also have a lot of the giant crows here where they attack Owls, Hawks or anything else they chose, like rabbits, cats, small dogs what have you. I love animals but the crow ( usually in a group) never caused me to warm up to it. They sort of remind of wild dogs in their attack strategy. Certainly nothing pleasant to watch.
Ryan and Debra to the rescue! What a little cutey! I hope the little guy likes it's new home!
Thank you everyone for the comments. I really admire a guy who helps the helpless.
Debra - The rabbit tells me his name is "Harvey" from the classic movie with James Stewert about an "invisible" rabbit. Of course the rabbit in the movie was 6 feet tall, so your Harvey has a ways to grow!
Hi Debra, I hope the little bunny is doing well, I'm glad Ryan was there to save him. Sometimes nature is too cruel to watch and do nothing.
Debra, what a sweet story! Love the sign guy, and I'm sure the baby bunny does, too!
Ahh you are terrific Debra! That little bunny is so cute!! Any reports on how its doing?
Mary-Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Pat-Me too!
Al -Peg-No sorry, I put her/him back out into the wild the very next day. I was getting too attached already! :-)
