Heading to Las Vegas this weekend for the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life"
My neice lives in Henderson and each year she and her husband sponsor a team to raise funds for the American Cancer Society by sponsoring a booth at the Relay for Life.
You can read all about it and/or make a donation here:
http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=15858192&pg=personal&fr_id=22021
Our team is called the Castaway Crew.
You'll see my niece and her husband, Rick and Theresa Wood, and also my sister, Jennie Zimmerman on the list. Jennie is a survivor of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma for over 30 years now.
The event is very cool, and each team has at least one member circling a track for the 24-hour period at the stadium.
They also have a Luminaria, which is a special candlelight vigil with the names of family members and friends we've lost to cancer.
Also on the site, you can make your donation in memory of someone, and there name will be on a scrolling list on the site.
This year, I donated in memory of my aunt Josephine Marlo, who I loved so much. She was good peeps, always easy going, always laughing. She died of breast cancer many years ago.
I am also going to be in the booth. In addition to my donation, I have purchased the items to prepare and sell Antioxidant Smoothies and Healthy Multigrain Chips with fresh guacamole, non-fat cheese and salsa!!
