11 Comments on Braemar Residents: Potential Life Saving Tip for the House Numbers on Your Mailbox
Hi Chris, Interesting post. I had such a horrible mailbox that my mailman left me a note! Needless to say I am happy with the new one!
Tiffany: I think we take the importance of our mailboxes, particularly those with house numbers, for granted.
Chris Ann:
It is a law here that you have to have your house number prominently displayed for emergency workers. However, I am not sure there is much of a fine involved since I see so many obscured and missing numbers. It is a great safety tip to remind people about this.
Hi Chris Ann, safety is important. We put the numbers on our homes and most times you can't even see them. Not a good thing. Have a great weekend!
Claudette: You can't remind people enough about safety tips like this.
Jackie: The numbers on our houses are much smaller than what we have on the mailboxes. Makes no sense when the houses are sitting farther back from the curb, and the mailbox is ON the curb.
Many rural areas are moving to GPS locations, as friends in rural Texas areas recently informed me.
Russel: That's cool to hear.
We've got guys in Sacramento who offer to paint your house number on the curb for $5. I actually bought a plaque with my house number on it and screwed it into my brick planter on the front porch. But it keeps falling off and dangling by one screw.
Elizabeth: We've got numbers close up to our front door, but the mailbox numbers are the easiest to read. Numbers on the curb may be subject to being obscured by street parking. Seems not enough residents in Braemar know the true use of a garage.
This is something I never would have thought about. Now I'm wondering if my address is on both sides of my mailbox.
Better check when you go for your mail today.
