Historical Landmarks in Franklin TN - Presbyterian Church

When visiting Franklin TN there is an abundance of wonderful Historic Landmarks  The presbyterian Church on "Five Points" at Main Street is a place you will want to see.

The church was founded by Gideon Blackburn in Franklin in 1811.

Not the original site the church moved here in 1842.  The Franklin Female Institute was established here in the mid 1800s.  Near the end of the Civil War the church served as a hospital for the wounded of the Battle of Franklin, one of the war's the most costly in lives and number of wounded soldiers.

Additional notable pastors A.N. Cunningham who established the Franklin Female Institute and Samuel H. Chester who served in the 1890s.

This Church and its heritage help enrichen our Franklin communtiy.  Just another reason why I love living in Franklin.

These beautiful old buildings are my favorite.  They don't make them this great anymore.

I love your post, I just posted a Blog this week on First Prebyterian Church here in Lake Charles! Churches are the most beautiful buildings and if the walls could talk I would love to hear the conversation!

Mike - this is a beautiful church. As many restored homes as we have, a lot more were destroyed in the 50's and 60's. It's a shame.
