122 Comments on Bed placement...what a difference a few feet can make
Wow, can't beleive the difference shifting the bed made in these rooms. Thanks for the photo illustrations. They really hit home. Just show's how important staging can be.
Thanks everyone. I am tickled pink that so many of you found this interesting. You know how it is...you post something hoping someone will find it interesting but not really expecting anyone to notice.
:)
Wonderful post. We live in a cold climate also and our bed is right near the window.
It makes the room flow and we love the window open for fresh air while sleeping.
I think owners have a mental block about blocking windows.
That's just another one of those little things that makes a big difference. Thanks for all the fine photos.
Staging always makes such a difference. I like the before and after photos. Thanks for sharing these.
Michelle
Point well made......I have said it many times .......it takes a team to sell Real Estate. Your post is a reminder that no one person knows it all and that many contribute to sucessful Real Estate closings. thank you
I would agree with a much earlier statement that a design/fabrics/etc have as much to do with the spaciousness of a room as moving the furnature. Especially for a smaller room--lots of light, fabrics and patterns that make a focal point really 'pop'--these are just a couple of things (in addition to placement) that really help a sale. Of course, Michelle, there are so many things to think about!
I think placement is important but that wide angle lens used is even more important!
Good pictures and explanations. I find that most people arrange bedroom furniture based upon the locations of the cable and telephone jacks.
those differences are amazing! that gives us lots to consider. I'm going to share these ideas with some of my sellers!
Love the post, the photos, the brief commentary, AND all the comments. A must-read for new agents or for those challenged in this area. Thanks.
Thanks everyone. To those of you who makes comments about the wide angle lens. They certainly do make a difference. I think they need to be used carefully so as not to create a misleading impression as the prospective buyers will just end up diappointed when they see the home in real life.
The first and third sets of photos had a wide angle for both the before and after. The second set of photos did not have a wide angle in either the before or after. Certainly the last two examples the lense changed between the before and after.
Yes every little bit helps. The paint, changing the bedding, placement etc. and as stagers we love to do as much as we are able. The only thing that ever holds us back in budget...but then again isn't that often the case in life.
Richie I love your team reference. It really is about team work. So often we feel we can partner with the home owner and the agent to form a strong team. More brains, more resources, the right attitude can make a formidable team.
Have a great day all !!
Great examples and photos, Michelle! I, too, will be bookmarking this post.
Never gave too much thought about bed placement. Learned something new. I appreciate your efforts and enjoyed your post very much Michelle.
Thanks Plama and Danny.
Seeing is believing! It seems that USUALLY the bed should be the focal point when you enter the room. Sometimes that can't happen, but when you do make the bed the focal point, it creates that feeling of luxury, "Ah, I am ready to be rested, have luxury, etc." Isnt that the point of a bedroom. Lets make the Master bedrooms...Masterful!
Excellent post Michelle. Wow, you sure received a lot of comments! Your pictures prove how different a room can look by repositioning the bed. Great job!
Hi Michelle,
What a terrific post! Love the photos! Thanks for sharing your article with us! I really enjoyed it!

Michelle:
I find it very awkward when beds and furniture are not properly placed and positioned. It takes a little thought and planning to make the room functional and eye appealing. Thanks for the illustrations.
Charlene, I was amazed at the interest too.
Rita, It was my pleasure.
Mott, I agree. I also find that the photos really help to make the point.
