I was collaborating a few weeks back on a project with my good friend Scott Cowan, Keller Williams, Gig Harbor, Washington. He's developing a marketing and information strategy on the Stadium District in Tacoma, Washington.

We were kicking around a few ideas on how to quickly and easily present sold's or particular properties in the neighborhood. I immediately thought of BatchGeo.com. It plots properties on Google Maps and let's you embed the map on your blog or website for public or private viewing.

The maps are stored on the BatchGeo site and you can come back to them and change parameters and update at anytime. You can also create KLM files for Google Earth and create street views.

All you need is any kind of spreadsheet like Excel, Google Docs, Open Source etc. Use headers in your file so BatchGeo knows what fields are the address to create the latitude/longitude to plot your properties on the map. You can add other fields you want to share information like sales date and price, bedrooms, square feet, and subdivision. They'll pop up in a balloon above the property marker.

Use this simple form to configure your map.

setting up your data for BatchGeo

Simply highlight the area in your spreadsheet that you want to use and copy/paste it into the data box on the page. You can set other parameters like expiration date, yes/no to advertisements, and render method. Then click Validate, and save.

BatchGeo plots it out on the Google Map for you and creates a string for an Iframe you can use to embed the map on your blog or website. You'll also get a link you can use to come back to the map so you can change parameters and make any tweaks or updates you want. I like the feature that you can make the map private or public at anytime.

BatchGeo lets you embed the map on your site.

This has a lot of possibilities for all kinds of presentations. A visual is worth a lot of words and I've used it to present properties like homes with specific views, where are the apartment buildings, properties with specific zonings, strip malls, and schools... etc. etc.

Wow!  You're so smart and so generous to share this with us.  I just spent several hours this afternoon making a map and it looks like this tool would have done it in much less time.  Can't wait to try it.

This looks like it is over my head, but I am going to print it out and take it one step at a time to see if I can do this.  I have a website of subdivisions so this would be a dream if I can get it...

René Thanks for posting this for everyone to use. I think it could be a very powerful tool for agents who want to be known for their knowledge of a specific targeted area. I am looking forward to rolling it out on my site soon.

You can also embed street view on your web page. It is like having a free virtual tour of the street the listing is on.

Nice tip on BatchGeo. Spreadsheet to map is a great feature for someone who spends as much time in Excel as me.

Kathy: Thanks so much for stopping by and regards to from Renton, WA... It's the easiest app I've found. You should be able to plot properties on Google in a few minutes.

Douglas: I love the way you're using street view on your site... nice site by the way.

John: Me too (Excel) and I was so excited when I could just simply highlight an area of the spreadsheet and paste it into their site...

This is a great tool, I also suggest you do it in Flickr, Picasa and other sites that Google loves. I try to do this with all my listing with GEO tags and Google does notice. So, you were creeping up on 100,000 and they you went missing? Where are you my friend?

Hi Todd... I agree and use Flickr, Picasa etc. myself. You are so right, sites that Google loves... Hey, I've been busier than a ______________ ... Making plans for total global domination from my Eastlake office in Seattle, working on videos, holding down a desk... and now rebuilding my Dell Laptop that crashed a couple of weeks ago... throw in a few other life changing events etc. here....  But through it all I've learned a lot (1. forgot about laptops and their built in Broadcom security chips)... what a headache. Anyway, I'm back!
