Last night was a great night to take in a ball game and what better place than Yankee Stadium? Maybe not....

My cousin called me Monday night and had tickets to last nights Yankees vs White Sox game, these tickets were no ordinary tickets, they were 5 rows behind home plate with a field level view and and up close and personal with the action. On a night where we were looking a possible tri-fecta in MLB history with A-Rod Going for Career Homer 500, Bonds Looking To Tie the all time Home Run Record and Tom Glavine Going For Career 300th win I thought I would be 1/3 of that which none of the three happened. Never the less it was a great night to see a ball game. And the Yankees won by big hitting 8 home runs!

The plan started out great, we got great tickets with a face value of $135.00 each for $50.00 each, nice deal! but that's where the bargains bargain and ended. We got to our seats for first pitch and when you sit in the upper end seats you get food delivery service not so bad, no runs to the hot dog stand or beer booth, the nice lady came by, took our order, 2 hot dogs,2 cold beers please, sure she said as she typed away on her portable electronic order gadget, then boom... $32.00 please!!! What 2 beers and 2 hot dogs $32.00!!! WOW....I think that is robbery, the same two hot dog's at nathan's hot dog stand with fries and a soda are about $7.00, two beers at a bar are about $6.00, my match says $13.00 and that's with a BIG MARK UP so $32.00 what the heck! Of course we had to have a couple of beers and some cracker jacks through the game so all totalled other than the tickets it was a dent of about $80.00 each to see the game not counting the tickets!

How can a family afford to to to a game? There were a couple of guys in front of us who brought their 2 kids and all 4 ordered items when they got there, something to eat, soda's, water and it came to $70.00 and that was just to start, I am sure by the time they left the park they were in for $150-$200 each dad. The thing is the games are sold out, people are paying.

Yankee Stadium - Un-Fan Friendly!

Being a big Yankees fan I try to go to a couple of games a year, mostly Yanks/Red Sawks, this year I brought my wife to Fenway for her first time to see a Sawks/Yanks game and boy what a differance! Even though I wish noting but loses to the Red Sawks in every game I have to say Fenway Park blows away Yankees Stadium as far as being fan friendly! Our First Time To Fenway this season We sat behind home plate and had great seats in Fenway and after a few inning we wanted to walk around the park, we were able to stop and watch and pretty much do as we pleased without any resistance from the Fenway Security (of course we were respectful of others and their view of the game),real easy going fun park. Now Yankees Stadium on the other hand is the most Fan Un-Friendly Stadium I have been in, last night my cousin went to right field and I went left when A-Rod got up with maybe a chance he hit # 500 and one of us were lucky enough to get the ball, we agreed to meet 1/2 way after the at bat, while walking to meet him I spotted him about 30 feet ahead walking towards me, we met and stopped for about 10 seconds to see where we were going next, within that 10 seconds SECURITY walks up...KEEP MOVING!! YOU CAN'T STOP!!.....What??? I said to the guy " I can't stop for 10 seconds and talk?" he said "yes in the concession area not here" What a joke? We were not in anyones way, we were not blocking the walkway, we were simply talking about if we were going to get something to drink, going to the bathroom etc. This is common at Yankee Stadium, over the years they are so un-fan friendly it make me not even want to go back after seeing how well you get treated at other parks like Fenway.

My only time going to Yankee Stadium was for Game #7 of the playoffs, and yes this is the one we lost :(. Leaving Boston around noon I thought we would have plenty of time to go pick up the tickets in Times Square and then I would have plenty of time to walk around Yankee Stadium.  Wrong, I was stuck in traffic because of a water main break and it took an hour to move 1 mile.  We got off at the next exit and took the nearest train in with just minutes to spare before the first pitch around 8:05pm.  I would have loved to been able to walk around the stadium for a while before the game started.  Maybe next time.

I agree the prices at any stadium are high, I think a 2 beers and 2 hot dogs at Fenway would cost about $28.

I'm glad you enjoyed Fenway!

Come on out to the "Big A" I will show you the best seats, on the cheap price...and you will have a great time for half the price.   However once again we are showing that the Angels are better than the Yankees....

Last May I went on a 3 week vacation and spent a week in NY, I did have 2 third level seats which cost me $225 at Stubhub...that alone was WOW! But when I was in Baltimore I was 4 rows behind 1st base and it was only $45 for 2 tickets...what a difference. In DC I saw Game 6 of the NBA Playoffs Cavs vs Wizards and 2 seventh row tickets cost me $300, then on my way back home I stopped off in Cleveland for Game 4 Pistons vs Cavs and those 2 tickets cost me $450 for 10th row seats...tickets are expensive!
