How well do you know the history of the area where you are selling? Here is my story.
I had a home that belonged to the Gustav Pabst family. Actually, it belonged to their butler, but was built by the family for him. At the time I listed it, it belonged to a physician who was trying to downsize. I was the second realtor taking over the listing. After hearing about the history with the Pabst family, I contacted the local historical society - the Oconomowoc Historical Society. They gave me great information about the family and the area.
Later, we held an open house for history buffs, with a free-will offering for the historical society. The turnout was fantastic. Within a matter of weeks, we had an offer from word of mouth. The historical angle was a great asset in making the sale. The new owner was keen on restoring the place.
And I joined the Oconomowoc Historical Society. Win-win.
So if you have a home that is historical in any way, contact your local historical or genealogical society for more information. Turn an "old" home into an "interesting, historical" home.

With the road construction, I recommend taking the round-about south on Silver Lake St. to Jefferson, then west. The easiest direction used to be south at the four corners downtown Oconomowoc, but "they" are repairing Main St.
