The History of Southeastern Colorado -Trinidad, Berwind Canyon Mines, Ludlow from Debi Boucher on Vimeo.

I know not everyone likes viewing videos online, but some do - and I wanted to check out Vimeo. I've always used YouTube for my slideshows, but this one is over the 10 minute limit that YouTube imposes, so I thought I'd give it a try. Actually, I think Vimeo does a great job - the quality of the video is good, and there is no time limit for your show. The down side - unless I'm missing something, there is no way to make it a bigger screen. Maybe changing the code? Anyone tried it?

Many of you have read my series on the history of Southeastern Colorado, and I thank you very much for your comments!

This video is a compilation of those photos that take the viewer through the history and architecture of the town of Trinidad, through the abandoned (in 1928) coal mine and miners' homes of Berwind Canyon, to the Hastings Mine (where 121 miners lost their lives in a mine explosion), the site of the Ludlow Massacre, and finally, the Ludlow ghost town.

I used ProShow Producer to create the video, it's a little over 12 minutes long, and the music for the show was legally purchased. I really love using ProShow for my videos - Lots of great effects available, and the ability to create your own. No limits!

If you have the time to check out all or part of the video, take a look - If not....I understand!  (Really, I do!) 12 minutes is a LONG video... LOL

Deb, The way I have always changed the size is in the embed code. For example, I increase the height by 150 and increase the width by 100 or vice versa. Just make sure you increase at more than one if you see the height and width code more than once. This may not be the proper way, but it is how I do it. email me if you want me to better explain.

Hi Debi, That is a terrific video.  Your photos speak so well to the hard times and lives the people there must have led!  How long did it take you to put this together?  It looks like a lot of work and it looks beautiful.

Hi Debi, Geat Slide Show. I tried to call no answer. Here is what to do.

Go into the post edit.

Select html. Tip: You can edit is WYSIWYG, then save. You can edit in HTML, then save. But you cannot edit both ways. You must save the work with each edit mode.

Read down through the code and chnage the width number and the height numbers. Example: If it ssays that the with is 480 and the height is 360, just change the numbers to something like 640 and and 480. These number may occur more than once so lok through all of the embed code. Do not change anything else. It is easy to place the cursor at the number and put the new number in before removing the old number. This way you won't lose track of where the numbers actually go.

Let me know how it works. Tip: just be sure you change  all corresponding numbers because they often exist throughout the html code.

Debi - That's a remarkable video! I've done a few videos and put them on YouTube! I haven't really focused on them in the past, but ironically had thought more about doing so, recently!

Hi Debi - Great video but I wish the size was bigger. It doesn't do your remarkable photos justice.

Debi, I really liked your music selection to go with those beautiful and sometimes haunting photos of days gone by and areas that had fallen on hard times.  I must tell you I have NEVER seen an adobe barn.  Fantastic slide show!!!

Well, I watched the whole "vimeo" so I could take a little walk down memory lane, "Hey, I know where that is, hey, that's right by my old house!". Truly beautiful, and great music, enjoyed the combo! We are ready for another corner of our state to be chronicled...got any trips planned? =o)

12 minutes is a long video. In fact, for me, 30 seconds is a long video. LOL.

Also, if you read through the comments to change the size code, and then do it, make sure that you change the height and width proportionally. Many videos won't work if you don't.

I use Excel to decrease videos. Just multiply whatever the height and width is now by .75, .50, or any other number and then use the new numbers.

Hey everyone - Thanks for the comments, and the tips for resizing - Now, why didn't I think of that? LOL

Mary - creating the video doesn't take long at all - it's processing the photos that does :)

Maria - don't blame you!

Bruce - the adobe barn is a throw back from the Spanish influence in the area.

Cheryl - I am leaving in 3 weeks for Yellowstone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Debbie great video! Vimeo is a wonderful option outside of the YouTube venue.

You can change the size of the video just by tweaking the height and width sizes by the same amount each.
