It seems like social media marketing is receiving more promising results on a weekly basis.

This week’s social marketing benefit?  Well, according to research and marketing firm Morpace, two out of every three Facebook users state that they will more likely purchase a product if referred to by one of their Facebook friends.  Almost half of these referrals are from brands who have Facebook Fan Pages.

As you may have already figured out, Facebook Fan Pages are a great way for people to tell their friends about your product or service.  The question is, how are these businesses acquiring Fans for their Fan Pages?  Well, according to this study, 37% of Facebook users join Fan Pages because they offer consumers coupons and discounts.

So How Can This Be Leveraged As  A Real Estate Professional?

For starters, if you are not using social media as a marketing medium, now is a great time to get on board.  While it is simple to create accounts and make the occasional post on these networks, your objective should be to get involved in the conversations that are going on in your real estate niche.  While there are numerous ways in which this can be done, Facebook Fan Pages can give you a great leverage point.

While Fan Pages can be made on virtually anything you want, it’s important to create one catered to your niche.  One way you can figure out a great Fan Page theme is to just listen to what people are talking about.  If that is not an option, a great Fan Page idea that has proven successful for other real estate professionals is to create a Fan Page about your neighborhood.  Neighborhood Fan Pages can allow you to provide a central resource for all residents to learn about upcoming events, information, meetings, and anything else they may be interested in.  You can also leverage the idea of enticing fans through coupons and discounts by creating partnerships with local businesses and see if they can offer you unique discounts.

So if you haven’t been involved with social media, now is a great time to join the community.  While the benefits can be amazing for you brand, know that it will probably take some time to see results.  Just know that social media marketing is still a relatively new phenomenon, and the majority of businesses haven’t figure out how to make it work for them.  So experiment, test, and track your results and with any luck, you will be able to yield the numerous benefits of social media.
