Over Watering Your Lawn Could End Up Costing You

By
Industry Observer with No longer practicing real estate as of 2008.

Manatee County says they will now start handing out citations to people that are watering their lawns more than once a week.  The citations will be issued only after the violators have been warned twice.  On the third offense a citation will be issued.  The first citation will carry a $50 fine, with subsequent violations resulting in potential fines of $100 to $500.

An employee has just completed the training needed in order to become certified to issue citations.

The watering restrictions will remain in effect until at least September 30th.  They will then decide in September if it will be extended to a longer period of time or if they are going to change or remove the watering restrictions.

water restictions are necessary in some areas. Also over watering can actually cause fungas problems too. This is an issue we can have in our area during the summer months. high humidity area you know :-)

We are getting into the rainy season here anyhow.  So we likely will get rain every afternoon for the next few months.

Holy cow!  We have been getting so much rain the past couple days, I can't even imagine touching the sprinklers.  Gotta love rainy season in Florida!

We don't do much watering here in the summer.  This year has been really nice, too.

Yes, we have been getting a lot of rain every day.  No need for the sprinklers anyhow right now.

Don't take this wrong, but that is someone with a power trip and has way to much time on their hands.

It just makes no sense this time of year....we are in the rainy season when it rains nearly every single day.

OK - Thanks for the clarification, if it is raining everyday already, you are right. You should be watering your lawn everyday, but still it seems silly to be wasting tax payer money on chasing lawn watering
