Deposits for Companion Animals

No!  In our great State a companion animal--as well as a service animal--must be permitted in the property without an increased deposit.  Though some conscientiousapplicants will offer a higher deposit for their pets, the increased deposit cannot be required.  This is one of many previously grey area rules we must be careful to consider to comply with Fair Housing.

Unless the owners are returning to the property, I take dogs already in the "family" in my properties with an additional $200 in their security deposit.

I can get better residents, higher rent and they leave the property in good and clean condition!
