My wife is graduating from college!

This is completely unrelated to real estate for a change.  This time, it's personal.  My wife, Amy, is graduating from college tomorrow!  After she lost her job due to downsizing in September 2008, she made a decision to make something good come out of something bad.  So, at age 48, she became a college student.

Michigan offers assistance to re-educate those who have lost their jobs as part of the No Worker Left Behind Program, and Amy took part in that.  She enrolled to start in January 2009, and less than 18 months later, she is graduating from Northwestern Michigan College with an Associates Degree in Business Management.  She completed a two year program in just 1 1/2 years.  Not only did she fly through it, but she is going to graduate Phi Theta Kappa (the 2-year college equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa).  Kiddingly, I tell people that I graduated from the University of Illinois Magna cum Barely.  Not entirely true, but not entirely false either!

I salute my wife, who is also my best friend and the love of my life, for all her hard work.  It's not easy being a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and full-time student, yet she did it with relative grace.  I supported her emotionally, and we celebrated her successes and even cried together a time or two.  And now, on the verge of her graduation, I am so proud of her, I just want to shout from the mountaintops:  Amy, I am so proud of you!  I love you, and I'll be there, taking pictures to preserve this day for eternity.

Congratulations, my love.   Today you are a college graduate!
