ABOUT FISHERS

A diverse business economy, top-ranked educational institutions, vibrant cultural and recreational opportunities and championship sports teams are just some of the great characteristics of the Fishers area.

Located in Southeastern Hamilton County, Fishers sits just 15 miles northeast of Indianapolis, making it a very convenient place to live and do business. The Metropolitan Airport is nearby and you can reach the Indianapolis International Airport in 30 minutes.

Fishers' history begins in 1872 when Salathiel Fisher divided his land into town lots. The area was first called Fishers Station and Fishers Switch. During this time, new communities would spring up along railroads. Fishers was no exception, hence the early reference to a train station or switch. The Fishers Train Station today houses the Fishers Chamber of Commerce and the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

When it's time to relax, residents and visitors enjoy many entertainment venues nearby, such as taking in the sounds of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra playing outside on the prairie near the picturesque 18th century village of Conner Prairie Living History Museum. Other events include outdoor summer concerts at Town Hall, the Fishers Farmers Market featuring numerous vendors offering produce, flowers, original art and other goodies, the Fishers Freedom Festival.
