Will there be a drop-off is real estate sales after the expiration of the tax credits? First indications are NO!

The Male Academy in Newnan GAMany in the real estate profession predicted that the door of opportunity for home buyers would be slammed shut after the federal tax credits expired.

And while a single weekend's worth of data may only be considered as anecdotal, the first indications are that buyers recognize that a deal is a deal, and it doesn't need additional incentives to support the decision making process.

I showed a lot of HUD homes on Saturday and Sunday, and most had other buyers there when we arrived and more showing up as we left the property.

Pergaps it is a carryover of the buyer frenzy from last week, but more than likely, it's just as simple as people needing a home and wanting to get it at a decent price.

What a novel idea!

Hi Richard,

I came to terms on an offer Saturday morning (negotiating over a 5 day period). On Saturday I wrote another offer and just came to terms this morning. I've gotten an offer on one of my listings and am getting a second one this evening..not slowing down by any means! People are ready willing and able to buy.

Richard, we are working with a lot of people who are understanding that this is a good time to buy with the low interest rates and HUD houses on the market.  The spring weather is helping too!

I have not seen a drop at all and didn't expect to as many folks are getting back to the days of wanting a home of their own that they can afford.

In all honesty I believe that the people who bought a home during the tax credit would have likely bought a home regardless of the credit.
