The beauty of being in a social network such as Active Rain is to share ideas and hear what is going on in each others worlds. We see what works and doesn't work and we share incredible information that helps each other out. This saves us money, this saves us time and this saves some of us entire school years in the school of hard knocks.

If you are new to Active Rain or perhaps not really committed to blogging yet, may I suggest that you just spend 15-20 minutes a day reading other peoples blogs...OPB's instead of the daily mind-porn...aka news. Instead of immersing yourself being  bombarded with negativity of the world around you,  you will start to feed your mind with ideas, and you will start to meet people who are the movers and shakers of this world.

Thought processes and "how to" neurons will start forming in your brain and suddenly that dormant IMAGINATION that you thought left you at age 8 will return. But you have to feed it and nurture imagination and keep it in the synergy playground with other playmates for it to thrive. It needs to be fed daily and it needs to be honored by letting it loose to run and play. When you have an idea, you can't sit on it, you can't keep it indoors locked up, you have to open up the screen door and let it go. Watch it run and see it blossom and evolve in the sunlight.

The funny thing about ideas is that they tend to start attracting friends and pretty soon, they'll have playmates and play dates and life really gets interesting and dare I say.......FUN.

In the early days of the internet, before .pdf files and when e-mail was just in its infancy I was still sending out snail mail relocation packages. I was a RE/MAX agent then and we had a supplier that sold us these really great mailing boxes with RE/MAX logos and balloons on them. I would gather up free printed materials from the Chambers, real estate books, some personal marketing pieces; mover's reminder checklists and AOL city geographic data that the buyers were interested in. I would drop in business cards and a bag of microwave popcorn and a moving-relocation video for the buyers to watch. I called this package, "The Smooth Move Package". Where did the idea for the name come from? An herbal laxative teabag!

From this past week alone, I have come up with 4 major ideas that I am running with and I have begun to implement and I now have a notebook starting to organize for ideas for blogging and followup on others that are formulating...all stimulated by reading OPB's.

The magic of OPB's synergy is available to you too, but you have to participate. Make the commitment starting today to start hanging out in our playground, we'll help you relocate your long lost imagination switch again!

Great post Janet ~ here is a quote that I love and reinforces this same idea:

"If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas." -George Bernard Shaw, Renowned Irish Author

Keep those juices flowing!

AR is one of the best continuing education classes available.  I, too, am often inspired to "raise the bar" simply by reading other people's blogs.

I love reading OPB - it usually sparks an idea for me to create a post that I haven't yet thought about.  Many people are out of the loop when it comes to blogging.... there are many Austinites (even though we are a high-tech city) who feel I waste TOO much time blogging.  I've shared success stories over and over and there came a time when I finally gave up with my sharing (especially) after I'd provided proof in the pudding that blogging ACTUALLY works.  I know these people will eventually one day become believers or one day they'll be out numbered by the believers and will be looking for another business.  What other agents do not realize is there are over 80 million eco-boomers (gen x and gen y'ers - children of the baby boomers) who are starting to buy homes (usually beginning in their early 30's) and the eco boomers are all over social media and blogs to find their next Realtor.  Kudos to us for being a select few who actually get the Power of the Rain!!!!

Thanks so much everybody for your confirmation! Recently, from a blogger I learned about www.stumbleupon.com which is this amazing website that has surfing categories and you choose the categories that you are interested in.

You "stumble" and it will go through the net and stumble upon a site in that chosen category. You then get to choose "Like" or "not for me".  In the magic of Stumbleupon, it will remember the characteristics of the sites you Liked and look for more of the same to have a more focused Stumble.

When You Like one, it saves it in your Favorites File. This Favorites File for me is now building and I can just read and learn and it is just an amazing resource center, neatly filed for me and saved for me online.

I realized just how valuable this information was and I immediately did an over due backup on my computer. The down side to this is instead of going to bed by 11 each night, I am up excited and stumbling into the wee hours of the morning...but I sure am making new brain neuron pathways! LOL
