MEEKER PARK LODGE

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential Team Realty

Driving back and forth between Estes Park and Allenspark to the Meadow Mountain Cafe we pass by Meeker Park Lodge.  The boards still cover the windows, and as you can see we are still experiencing snow in May here in the high country.

Meeker Park Lodge

There have been fleeting moments when I thought I should sit around the pot bellied stove in this quiet little part of the world and tell stores about WhiskeyJack, Three Toed Mike, Indian Joe or other colorful people.  Grizzly Bob and Black Bear Mike could be some of the local favorites along with Cougar Jack.

Whisky Jack may have stayed at the Meeker Park Lodge

It won't be long before the plywood covering the windows comes down, the store opens and the tourists are enjoying Meeker Park Lodge again.

I wonder if the plywood is to keep the bears away?

Fernando,

The plywood is merely to cover the windows in the winter when the lodge is closed.  Keeps the windows from being broken by the wind and snow and leaving a mess inside the lodge.  The bears have become a concern over the years however.  They do sleep in the winter time -which is good.

Thanks, Gerald. Great winter pictures.

Is Meeker Park Lodge open this year? I haven't been able to connect by phone.
