How to Preserve Your Mother's Day Flowers!!!

Mother's Day Flowers

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there (and a very special Mother's Day wish to my Mom in Virginia)!

Like most women, I always enjoy receiving a bouquet of flowers, but I'm a little sad to throw them out after they've brightened up my dining room for a week or so. Lately I've taken to hanging them out to dry and finding a place to display them for a bit longer.

Here's how you can dry out and preserve your flowers, too:

  1. Gather a small bundle of the flowers that you'd like to preserve.
  2. Take off the leaves except for those closest to the flowers.
  3. Lay out the flowers and spray lightly with hair spray.
  4. Bundle them back up and arrange them how you'd like.
  5. Tie the bundle together at the stem with a rubber band.
  6. Hang the flowers upside down out of direct sunlight for at least a week or so.
  7. Display them in a vase (no water needed, of course) and enjoy for as long as you'd like!

                           Happy Mother's Day :-)

Ann- It's perfectly okay to buy yourself flowers for this project...or just because you feel like it! When I was in college, I would buy fresh flowers at the farmer's market almost every Saturday, just because it made me smile:-)

Have fun with this project, everyone!
