37 Comments on Sellers and Realtors: Staging Education, an Overview, Part One
Hi Ginger....Good luck with the RE agents in your area--They are LUCKY to have a professional like you!! Nice post!
Well written Ginger.
I think you may be right about some of those Staging companies seen on TV. They may be giving us a bad reputation (bossy, condescending) and not showing the full scope of the job.
I would have to say the 85% of Home Harmony's business comes from Redesign. Occasionally we add something to pump it up but we almost always find what we need in the home.
I look forward to you series.
Thanks Kathleen, I'm hoping that this post pushes my "luck" factor locally.
Liz, I know that television staging shows have made our staging roles appear more negative than positive in many agents and sellers heads. When they come to realize that our primary function is to help them, then we will be more welcomed into their homes. Education is key. Thanks for your comments.
Well said, Ginger. This is a great "punch list" for anyone shopping for a professional stager. Thanks for getting the word out there!
Bravo, Ginger -- I great list! It is because of this list home stagers are becoming more and more popular among Realtors and sellers. -- we do the dirty work and the pizazz!
Great post, Ginger. I love the "Dramatize" step. That's how you can tell a pro has done the job!
Thanks Patsy. Now all that I need is for them to start looking........
Hi Karen...we're your ears burning yesterday? I was looking for you. Glad you're back and commenting. Are they listening in Atlanta? Thanks for stopping by, missed you.
Jill, it's hard to put "our" final step into just one word but Dramatize works. Thanks for the comment.
Ginger,
Thank you for posting what we have to offer as stagers. It is so important to remember all of the things that you pointed out. Sometimes, if a Seller is on a tight budget it is more important to make necessary repairs and de-date the home as much as possible before we go adding furniture, etc. We gain credibility when we can honestly advise our clients and that is how we get repeat business from Realtors, etc. We have to educate as well as stage.
Marianne
Great educational post Ginger. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
Marianne, I totally agree. I have turned down staging of homes where other budgetary items needed to come first. After 30 years in the classroom, educating comes as second nature, but getting people to listen is another issue. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks Judy. Part Two is on the way soon.
Great post Ginger...you summed it up nicely. :)
Thanks Wanda. Since we stagers live this, day in and day out, it's easy to forget that there are still MANY people out there that need this education. This post doesn't have a lot of comments BUT it has had A LOT of views...yeah!!!
I'm always open to ideas from Stagers. I like your breakdown to 6 steps. Updating, neutralizing, decluttering, cleaning, dramatizing, Looking fwd to part 2-3-4-
Randy, thank you so much for commenting here. It's always good to hear from RE agents.
We (stagers) do our best to follow the KISS principle with staging clients and I'm glad that you're open to our ideas.
Good selling to YOU!
Ginger, great informative post. I bookmarked it. thanks. I am looking forward to read all of them.
Thank you Anna. Parts Two and Three are now up. Guess I should put links in here.
Links are now here in Part One Overview to Parts 2 and 3. More to follow.
"real estate market is NOT hopeless..." so true, a great Realtor just sold one of my staged properties, all 10,000+ sq. ft of it! WooHoo! I will be checking out the rest of the series, good stuff!
Cheryl...10,000 sq. ft...WOW and congratulations! How many days and how much inventory did that take. Vacant or occupied? Are you or have you don't a blog post on it? Thanks for checking out my blog posts and the series.
