Today we had both my mother and my wife's mother over for dinner.  We had two of my sister's too and my two sons and one of my son's wife.  Nice dinner.

In all we had 5 mothers for dinner.  My mother and mother in law are both over 80 and live in senior housing.  I must say that we all sleep better knowing they are no longer on their own in a house.  It has taken some time for the mom's to get used to it, but they know it is best for them too.

Life keeps evolving and it is interesting to see how each person handles their role.  Some do a great job and others struggle.

My hope is that as my life evolves, and yours too for that matter, we all handle it in a way that works for us and a way that works for the family around us.  Everyone is affected one way or the other.

Yes Happy Mother's Day. How the mom's put up with all the stuff kids and teenagers do, we never know (until we have teenagers ourself!)

My mother moved into senior housing before she died, and that was probably more difficult for me than it was for her. But she knew what was best for her and made the decision herself.

When my wise old grandmother went to assisted living, I was the only one voting no. In retrospect, it was the best thing we did for her. She got her memory back, her joy of living, her spirit, her humor. We learned that there were certain times that we were not to visit her because she was getting her hair done, having her nails done, playing Bingo, or playing Dominoes. You really didn't want to go on Dominoes night because she had to defend her Dominoes title each week.

Russell,  that is funny.  Old age can be fun, but the old person has to work at it.  We all benefit by being busy!
