I know it’s cliché, but sometimes you REALLY do need to stop and … well, you know!

Wildflowers in Meriwether County Georgia.I was driving out in rural Meriwether County last weekend. I was intent on putting out signs directing buyers and agents to my new listing on a large tract of land.

It was a time-consuming trip that I wasn’t really looking forward to making, but duty calls and I needed to get those signs out. But as I got further and further from civilization, I noticed that the recent rains had triggered a profuse blooming of wildflowers along the roadside.

At one point, I was so overwhelmed by the display that I had to pull over for s photo or two. And when I exited the truck, I was immediately inundated with clean, fresh air perfumed with the fragrance of honeysuckle and wild roses.

I lingered for a little while, taking in all of the beauty of creation. Suddenly, my mission was transformed from perfunctory work to a casual drive in the Georgia countryside.

No one ever said that you can’t enjoy your job!

Great point Richard, it is even more cool when this sort of thing happens completely by accident. Glad you had the time to stop and smell the flowers

Good morning Richard,

That is a beautiful profusion of wildflowers. The colors are spectacular. It's these moments when we gratefully acknowledge that mother nature does know best and rewards us with scenes like this.

Richard,

While too soon to smell them, on Saturday Chip and I cleared a plot to plant wildflowers meant to attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Won't we be pleased if that area looks half as lovely as your photo!

Richard - it's one of the advantages of what we do, we get to see so many things that those that are deskbound do not. And even better we get to stop and be part of the cliche.

Richard:  I would have had to stop and take some pictures too.  That's a lovely display of color.  I've never seen that much variety in a bunch of wildflowers.

Richard,

We do need a reminder to enjoy life to the fullest as much as we can.  And, you can find joy even in mundane tasks - it's all a matter of perspective.

What a beautiful display!  It's always nice to come upon an unexpected pleasure, especially when the chore at hand was not one you particularly wanted to do.

Usually when I'm out away from civilization I'm on the Harley with no camera. It's work but somebody has to do it. I commit the images to memory.

Hi Richard-

The description of the scent of the honeysuckle and wild roses made me catch my breath for a moment.  There is never enough time to smell the flowers, but I intend to do better!
