"Passport To History" - Josephine County Historical Society - Grants Pass, Oregon
The Josephine County Historical Society kicked off its' "Passport To History" on Sunday with a rousing celebration.
This is like a new twist on a scavenger hunt, and designed to get people involved in exploring Josephine Countys' history.
Come into the Josephine County Historical Society at 512 S.W. Fifth Street in Grants Pass, Oregon and pick up your "Passport To History."
You will be given a book with assignments to complete, and when you have collected all 50 stamps to verify your achievement, you will be entered in drawings for prizes.
As you earn your "Passport To History" stamps, you will be visiting; Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Applegate Valley, North Valley, and North Country (over Mt. Sexton). There will be tours, questions on sights, mandatory photos and other means of verification.
The historic sights in your "Passport To History" include cemeteries, historic buildings and businesses, gold panning, county parks, a ghost town, museums, Oregon Caves National Monument, bridge walks, schools, a fire department, a smoke jumper base, churches, stores, a quarry, theatres, a covered bridge, a dam, and more.
We hope you will enjoy and learn about one of the most beautiful counties in the country.
While you're at it, please become a member, as the Josephine County Historical Society is not funded by the county, but is self-supporting.
