Fit As A Fiddle? May is National Physical Fitness and Sports Month
National Fitness and Sports Month. Original Post by Brian Watkins; Being Passed Along to you now, by Daytona Beach area REALTOR®, Lisa Hill, "The Smart Choice". |
I'm re-blogging this post I just found, for obvious reasons... We need it! But before we get to the post, I'll begin with the comment I left on it...
- I taught aerobics (both hi and low), Spinning, Aquatics, Step, and Hip-Hop for 16 years before being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Then I switched to Yoga and Pilates. But I've been unable to teach for the last couple of years =( But I do enjoy walking. I think it's great that we can encourage fitness this entire month! I walked over 5 miles on Friday night. I have to force myself to take it easy, lest I overdo it with this blasted disease. I can't wait til I'm well enough to get back to teaching again. When you spend your entire adult life as a fitness instructor, there's no way to break free from that way of thinking. There's nothing better than the release of endorphins that make you feel so incredible when you get into the groove =D
That was my comment. And BTW, I'm still a licensed Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor. And I can attest to the benefits of walking that have helped my body to heal itself, and bring me back to the point of being able to go back to teaching group fitness classes. There really is no replacement for the almost euphoric feeling when endorphins are released during a workout. And they continue to give you that somewhat euphoric feeling for hours after a workout. So now you know why I find it so important to spread the news. I'm starting by re-blogging the following post. Now let's get cracking! =D Start by reading the post below, then get moving... literally! Your body will thank you.
Want to be Healthy, Weathly and Wise? (First be Healthy)
~Everyone is included ~The month of May is the National Physical Fitness and Sports Month. Something we can all learn from. As a commemorative tribute, we just walked a couple of mile around a park path. We completed a nightly walk right after a nice ice cream cone- yummm.
A few years ago we attended a medical school graduation. The speaker and doctor just returned from several years in Central America working in a health clinic for very poor. He related that the lines were long for appointments to see doctors for problems related to lack of proper amount of food, nutrition, vitamins and other common poor country ills. Then, he noted that in the United States we see virtual lines of Americans waiting to see their doctor for problems related to excess and too much food, availability of abundance of nutrition, vitamins, and other common rich country ills.
So! What is the meaning of all this? Too little or too much are both problems to the human body. The consumer needs to be smart and regulate our body intake.
Let's keep up our good health. If we live longer the quality of life is better. If we live shorter, the quality of life is better. Win-Win both ways.
