I'm Cheating on my Books, I'm in Love with my Nook

I have a wonderful library of books - I still love them very much. There's always been something cozy and peaceful about putting on my glasses and holding a book in my hands, turning pages by a lamp at night.

But then Nook came into my life; I never thought I would ever be seduced by this sleek device. And, then there it was dressed in a leather jacket, being shown off at Barnes and Noble - pretending to be a real book. I played coy, but the attraction was immediate.

Who could resist its color touchscreen and ability to store 1,500 books, newspapers, and magazines? And, then I held it. I lightly touched 'shop' and found 1,000,000 titles to choose from. I could sample any book before purchasing - and yes, the books were cheaper than those I bought with my membership card. "One thing," the rep said, "There is no backlight, so you will need to sit by a lamp at night."

I sighed and said to myself, "I think I'm in love."

And, so Sunday night, I put on my glasses, turned on my nightstand lamp and cozied up in bed with my Nook. I downloaded a new release novel, chose my font, and started to read. And, when I became sleepy, I touched Bookmark and closed Nook for the night.

This is the cover I chose...with a personalized picture on the cover (bright blue so it's easy to find).

Cool...sounds really great. Is this the Amazon device or is that something else? I guess the Apple iPad has a similar capability. Reading will never be the same again.

Ahhh. Technology is wonderful. Not that I read much more than bedtime stories the past four years. Do they have those on nook?

That sounds really nice, about how much does a book cost on the nook?

Amazing that 1500 books can fit in such a small device. I wonder if there will ever be virtual libraries?

John, Nook is by Barnes and Noble. Amazon makes Kindle. One huge difference between the 2 is that Nook's battery is replaceable and Kindle's is not.

Ellie, the whole store is available! Some books are free.

Lawrence, it costs ~$260.

John, I think so. Once you gather books on Nook, you create your own library with book covers in color.

Linda, your Nook reminds me of the wife in a deaf and dumb couple who ended an argument with her husband by turning out the light.  So if your Nook gives you a hard time, just turn him off.  I assume your Nook is a male chauvinest Nook.
